Black velvet merges with the staircase until body, architecture, and shadow become one tonal mass. A vermilion shawl interrupts that darkness with a single sustained gesture. Mara Bell is a fictional sitter conceived for this exhibition; her direct bearing turns the ceremonial staircase into a psychological stage.
